We’ve taken great care to ensure that the clamp on our monitor arms won’t damage your desktop surface. However, if your desktop surface is especially delicate or you want to take extra precautions against compression damage or abrasions, here are some tips:
- Some desktop materials (bamboo, natural wood) are more susceptible to compression than others. For these desktops, make sure the clamp connection is snug but not overtightened.
- Try clamping a board between the monitor arm base and the desktop. It distributes the force more evenly, thus reducing the risk of deformation.
- If you'd like to forego the clamp altogether, the monitor arm can also mount through one of the pre-drilled grommet holes.
